Default Should I keep my car, or not?

So, for graduation I got $500 towards the new suspension my dad knows I want...(or at least, he knows I want new suspension, since I complain about my existing suspension all the time lol). Anyway, my question is this - if you were me, would you keep this car, and try to fix it up (new suspension, needs an A/C overhaul, 'cause something is leaking, dunno what, plus my defogger SUCKS) in addition to this there's a fair amount of blow-by, not enough that I need to add oil in between changes, but it idles a tad bit rough, it doesn't have quit the power it once had, I can smell a faint hint of oil in the exhaust, and the PCV valve has more oil in it than I'd like to see.

Anyway, do I just keep doing the required maintenance, with the assumption that next spring (I'm going into the army in October) I'll give this one to my little brother and buy a new one, or should I try to get this one in better shape?

I mean, I know this one is fairly reliable as far as the engine goes, but I dunno, its age is starting to show, and I'm temped to just get a new one. But do you think I'll be happier just getting this one tuned and repaired, or not?

If I were you I would give it to my brother when I go in the army, because its not going to get any better.

That's what I'm kinda thinking too...I'll just miss the car. lol

So what kind of car should I look for, do you guys think? I'm considering buying new, since I'll have a bit of money (especially if I'm living on base, and since I don't have a family to provide for). I won't be buying until late fall at the earliest, maybe not until spring, but hey, its fun to play ahead.

I'm thinking I could probably buy up to 30 grand...maybe a bit more, depending on my situation at the time. A could of my friends have suggested that maybe I could find a good deal on a base corvette...some of the local dealerships are going as low as 32k on the 2008 'vettes. Only thing with that is, will the suspension be way too stiff for a daily driver?

(Regardless of what car I get, I want something that is at least as fast as my Regal GS, and nothing that looks retarded.)

I kinda looked at the Cobalt SS, but everyone says the torque steer is awful (I've got pretty noticeable torque steer in my car, and it drives me crazy).

The Civic SI seems a pretty good option, but looking at the specs it seems to be lacking in torque, and the reviews agree that its pretty slow off the line.

The Maxdaspeed 3 (I think thats what they call it lol) has some of the worst-looking interior, imo, and the reviews say the ride is pretty rough.

Hmmm, I'm thinking about the Hyundai Genesis Coupe...again, biggest problem is, will the ride be rough enough that on long trips I'll wish I had something else?

Hey Hoosier

The Genesis Coupes are pretty neat when you get up close to theme. Sat in one at the Philadelphia auto show. The only thing I can think of is: its the first year they came out, so there might be little kinks in them that will not be worked out till the next model year. Hyundais far ahead of where they once were, so I'm sure its a good car.

Seconded. Almost bought an '07 GXP for 24k in Illinois but I got my Grand Prix instead.

I've never really been one for the G-series styling, though I have to admit, they ride so smooth, and have nice acceleration. (I've actually never been in a G8, but my recruiter has a G6 that I've driven before.)
