Default What to buy?

Hey, I'm new here.

In the market for a car, and I'm not sure what to buy.

The cars I'm looking at are full-size, e.g Impalas, 300M's and the like.. was seriously interested in a 300M, until I read about all the damn recalls on them.

At the moment, the Impala's the current winner, but I'm wondering what else to consider.

Edit: Budget is between $10-15k Canadian

What features are most important to you in a car eg. acceleration, cargo capacity, looks etc? That will help us narrow down the potential cars for you.

Decent performance (smaller V6 or an I4), decent mileage and reasonable insurance. I was originally considering a 99-04 TDI Jetta, but the insurance is absolutely ridiculous.

The Impala is a good mix of everything; the 3.4's a decent engine, performance wise, and gets good mileage for a V6. It's a good size for me, as well.

Preference is for stick, but a larger car (with the exception of the Ford Fusion) is automatic only.

If you dont mind having something 30+ years old, try to find an early '70s car with a six cylinder and a stickshift. They'll get you 20-30MPG depending on state of engine and definatly will get you noticed more. You wont need to worry about parking lot dings either, that type of car has some STIFF steel in the bodywork. There's a reason they weigh 5500LBs and up. Finding one below about 1500 is going to net you a clunker like my truck, try for onein the 5000-10000 range. Also mind the rust and watch for things that the seller may not see and/or not want you to see.

If it ain't got a clutch, I ain't interested.

I'm looking for a 2008 compact-mid car that has real comfortable seats for under $20. The rest I can deal with!
Any ideas?
