Default Supercharged or Standard

Im about to get a mitsubishi eclipse. They have two at the dealership, and i really want a standard to drive around. The supercharged is automatic and is 1k more then the non supercharged standard. Which should i get. Would it cost me more to supercharge the Standard or just buy the Supercharged automatic wat a dilemma.

welll it would cost more to supercharge one than pay 1k more for it already done... but then its auto... this is a hard decision! I geuss you gotta decide what you want more, power, or the reliability and fun of a stick.

I say look into both, and test drive both and get the one that seems in better shape. Sometomes turbo/supercharged cars get beat on because they have a little more power, so younger kids will buy them and race the hell outa them, killing the motors and trannies, then just trade them in.

Does the Eclipse have an after market supercharger or is it the tubrocharged version from the factory? The same engine doesn't come in the non-turbo version so it can not handle nearly as many PSI of boost. So it would actually be cheaper to buy the one that already has boost and put a new transmission in it then it would be to build the other one up to the point where it was that fast.

they never made a supercharged eclipse from the factory, ever.

However, the older models, specifically 1990-1999 did have turbocharged models from the factory.

But, the model that you're talking about, which I'd assume would be the 2000-2005, only came with a 4-cylinder or a V6. The supercharger would be an aftermarket add on.

I'd personally go for the non-supercharged, manual tranny car.

Right now, the best is test drive them both and get what seems to be the besk kept one. Though if you still cant decide between the two, then get the supercharged one, and take it into a shop and have them drop a manual tranny in it that im sure you can find a junk yard on a totalled eclipse somewhere...
