![]() I recently purchased a 2000 BMW 528i e39. From what I was told the I6 engine from an M3 *should* fit. Has anyone had any experience swapping engines like this or know if it'll work? Would it be a pain to do? My goal is to swap engines and eventually put an ESS supercharger on. I guess another question would be if the stock tranny will take that kind of punishment. Any ideas?
Any suggestions and/or recommendations would be welcomed, thanks. |

![]() From what I understand the S54 engine from the M3 is a real pain in the butt to swap. try asking this question in m3forum.com

![]() uuummm, buy a japanese car?
no but um, you can try the other V8's BMW has to offer, they're most likely way cheaper than the S54 too.

![]() Isn't that generation M5 a V8? in which case, a V8 will fit.
A V8 isn't much longer than a I6. Just wider.
