Default What car to look for?

I'm looking at buying my first car. Not sure what to get though....
Looking at a 2 door car, want a somewhat sporty look.
Budget is $1000, and I have to be able to get one in either NH, Mass, or Vermont. I'm looking at a 97 Saturn SC1 with 110k miles. Excellent condition. Good buy?
I don't know where to post this info, so lemme know if theres a better section for this!

I'm eyeballing Acura Integras, 3000GTs, Toyota Celica, Mistibishi Eclipse, Saturn SC1

Stay away from Saturn. At 110k, that car is about at the end of it's life.

At 1,000 dollars you're going to get up a very torn up Integra or Civic.

Wow, 1000 dollars isn't going to get you much, at least in terms of reliablity or even 'nice'.

My 2001 Saturn SL2 just hit 200,000 and is still going strong. 35 mpg as well. I don't know what years are good and what not, but mine has been great.

if you can wait and save up even $2000 it will be well worth it. in my experience a $1000 car costs alot more in repairs than just buying a more expensive car.

This.

Save your money, work a few months. I would save up $3000, if possible. Maybe get a loan from your local credit union? You might be able to get something for $3500 for around $160/month with $1000 down.

Miata work for ya? If so, save up to about 3500 and grab one.

Trust me on this one, you don't want a car < 1,000 in price. I bought a 500 dollar truck. Well, actually, two of them. One mysteriously died and I never could figure out why(Stoopid '72 C10), and the other had a head gasket go, then not a month after I got it running again the clutch gave up(And I'm still putting it back together from this one). Only reason I still have it is I do the work myself and parts for a 1985 F150 are so damn cheap you wonder why they aren't free, so I've barely spent in repairs what I have on the truck outright...and I could list up a ton of less crucial things that are wrong with it, but I won't tl;dr.

Basically, if you weren't born with a wrench in your mouth, <1500 bucks is a bad idea.

My rigs:

1985 Ford F150 | 4x2 | 300ci OHV inline six | 4-speed OD manual | 310K | No power brakes | Running 100% - It hasn't driven this good in 15 years!

1984 Ford F150 | 4x2 | 300ci six | granny four | 3.55 rear end | 210K | Brakes shot. Rear drums are doing most of the work. Not fit to drive due to that.
1997 Ford Explorer XLT | 4.0L Vulcan V6 | 5-speed automatic | shift-on-the-fly 4WD | 210,000 miles | Running 95% - Needs brakes on all four corners + bald tires
1989 Ford F150 | 300cid six...again | 5-speed | 4x4 | 160K | Needs brakes done as well. Oi!
