Boxsters are considered the slowest and worst-engineered Porsche's out there right now. They're pretty cheap new...can be had for around 50k. They're extremely expensive to maintain and get you no where in terms of performance.
Family Cars: (Bold is mine).

1998 Nissan 200sx SE | i4 1.6L | 83,000 miles | Green | Running 100% |

1996 Nissan Sentra | i4 1.6L | 122,000 miles |Black |
2001 Nissan Maxima | V6 3.0L | 94,000 miles | Black |
2010 Toyota Camry | i4 2.5L | 5,500 miles | Silver |
1993 Toyota MR2 | 2.0L i4 560HP | 26psi Boost | Unknown Mileage | White| Scary to drive

It's a Porsche. Take care of it and it will outlast humanity, right alongside my truck, ****roaches, AGP and Chuck Norris in no paticular order.

but, as Retro mentioned, they're barely worthy to wear the badge. They're weak and cheap to begin with. I'd rather have a 911, personally.
Tired Iron ain't got no time to wear out...

My rigs:

1985 Ford F150 | 4x2 | 300ci OHV inline six | 4-speed OD manual | 310K | No power brakes | Running 100% - It hasn't driven this good in 15 years!

1984 Ford F150 | 4x2 | 300ci six | granny four | 3.55 rear end | 210K | Brakes shot. Rear drums are doing most of the work. Not fit to drive due to that.
1997 Ford Explorer XLT | 4.0L Vulcan V6 | 5-speed automatic | shift-on-the-fly 4WD | 210,000 miles | Running 95% - Needs brakes on all four corners + bald tires
1989 Ford F150 | 300cid six...again | 5-speed | 4x4 | 160K | Needs brakes done as well. Oi!

While I would agree that the "Boxster" (correct spelling) is the low end Porsche model, the idea that they are 'weak' is not giving any credit to the car. Saying something like that might make sense if you drove a 911 or Viper or Ferrari, but I don't think you do

The Porsche Boxster S covers 0-60 in 5.1 seconds, and the quarter mile in 13.8 seconds. The handling is also very good. Those aren't supercar numbers but they are still faster than the vast majority of cars on the road. Those numbers are also for a 2003, so they may even be faster in the newer Boxsters, I'm not sure.

The true pieces of crap Porsches are any front engine variety. The Boxster is a mid engine and is actually a pretty decent car performance wise, but is hampered by irregular reliability.

Personally, I wouldn't call any Porsche a piece of crap. Yes, there were some really slow Porsches in the day, but if you have ever driven or owned one, you would understand how much fun even a slow car can be. If you have ever worked on one, you will notice how well everything was engineered and no corners were cut. That said, some of the issues that come from age in Porsches can only be tolerated by true Porsche lovers.

Boxsters will fall right into that description. Personally the early ones are my least favorite Porsches along with the 996's.
1986 VW Jetta Coupe Diesel - SLOW
1987 Audi 4000 V8 quattro - FAST

I remember working on these at the dealership. A bunch of VW & Audi parts with a Porsche name plate. Poor man's Porsche.

... and now Boxster
2003 GMC Envoy 5.3
