Default Spy Pics of the new Ford Coyote Engine

Notable items: The coyote V-8 appears to have an aluminum intake manifold instead of composite, like the current V-8 engines use. It's also said to have a lighter aluminum cylinder block instead of cast iron.

This is the 400HP, 400 FT LBs 5.0 V8, right? If so....it's not anywhere near as cluttered as the 4.6 it's replacing is. I like.

I can actually see most of the engine!

My rigs:

1985 Ford F150 | 4x2 | 300ci OHV inline six | 4-speed OD manual | 310K | No power brakes | Running 100% - It hasn't driven this good in 15 years!

1984 Ford F150 | 4x2 | 300ci six | granny four | 3.55 rear end | 210K | Brakes shot. Rear drums are doing most of the work. Not fit to drive due to that.
1997 Ford Explorer XLT | 4.0L Vulcan V6 | 5-speed automatic | shift-on-the-fly 4WD | 210,000 miles | Running 95% - Needs brakes on all four corners + bald tires
1989 Ford F150 | 300cid six...again | 5-speed | 4x4 | 160K | Needs brakes done as well. Oi!

It's still cleaner than the 4.6. The 4.6 has wires going all over the place, you can't hardly see the valve covers without digging through them. Even factoring in the street addons like AC, and the fact that it's in a mustang engine bay in those shots, it's very clean, well cable-managed and actually looks like an engine instead of a pile of wires and hoses.

'Tis a good thing, ya know. Makes it easier for people to work on, which means lower labor charges and maybe even more DIY maintenance!

I like the looks of the spark plugs and how they sit on the valve covers ... at least I assume they are the spark plugs lol.

Probably the coils. Twin cam = the plugs are way the hell down in there. It does appear to be somewhat easy to get to them, tho.
