Default For once - No rant from my focus!

So as much as I ***** about my Focus's shortfalls there is one TINY little glimmer in it.. The Fuel Economy.

Now, my old car cost me $73 to fill up 3 times a week.... OUCH.. I was averaging 13.5mpg on a 15 gallon tank... Time for that puppy to go!

I can romp the crap out of the focus and STILL get what the EPA says your supposed to get.. if I drive like an old lady, I can get 48 MPG.. its AWESOME!!!!!

I filled up my tank earlier today, then drove 117 miles (Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day Release in Chicago baby! (AWESOME MOVIE!!) and I'm at 3/4 of a tank.. If I drive normally I get about ~180 miles out of half a tank for 33.3 MPG (according to my math done when I fill up)

So yeah.. as much as I *****, I do enjoy the fact that 25 bucks in gas lasts me 2 weeks now

(And no Focus post would be complete without a rant... this one not Ford Related though...)

Stupid *%*$*$*$$*$*$ Red Light Cameras!

I pulled off the expressway and stopped at the light.. Their STUPID RETARDED red light camera went off on ME before I even came to a stop at the light! I stopped, Read the sign that says "No Turn on red except Right Lane.. I was in the right lane... I go.. BANG I got filmed NINE times.... If I wind up with a ticket from the City of Schaumburg I'm going to go postal on them, I already have a court date the end of the year for the sodding accident that wasn't my fault, I'm not going to deal with a no turn on red ticket too.. </end rant>

I feel better.. LOL

There's always a plus with a Ford. With mine, it's reliability. With yours, it appears to be fuel ecomony.

Perhaps your Focus should take a page from my F150's playbook. 35MPG --> 25MPG would be a valid sacrifice if the damned thing would hold together, eh?

1985 Ford F150 | 4x2 | 300ci OHV inline six | 4-speed OD manual | 310K | No power brakes | Running 100% - It hasn't driven this good in 15 years!

1984 Ford F150 | 4x2 | 300ci six | granny four | 3.55 rear end | 210K | Brakes shot. Rear drums are doing most of the work. Not fit to drive due to that.
1997 Ford Explorer XLT | 4.0L Vulcan V6 | 5-speed automatic | shift-on-the-fly 4WD | 210,000 miles | Running 95% - Needs brakes on all four corners + bald tires
1989 Ford F150 | 300cid six...again | 5-speed | 4x4 | 160K | Needs brakes done as well. Oi!

My mustang gets 30 MPG on the highway when cruise controlling =)). I did have it re-programmed though.

2008 introduced cheaper parts.

Cheap crap weighs less.

:P just kidding.

I know what you mean, Cluff. I was running ~15-18 MPG in my Volvo 940 Turbo (fun to drive, but also expensive) and when I got this corolla, it costs me ~$150 more per month to keep it, BUT, I get 27.5 MPG punching it in each gear. I get places fast than I did in the Volvo (I was too scared to gun it all the time everywhere in it, afraid of the fuel economy, lol) and more efficiently.

Mine would have cost... 25% less to insure than my PT if I didn't buy a ruddy coupe LOL.. But everyone has a Sedan.. and the gas savings is STILL enough to pay my car payment LOL.
