Default toyota recalls 110,000 tundras

Quote:
The safety recall covers 110,000 Toyota Tundras from model years 2000-2003 that are registered in 20 states and the District of Columbia. The states are Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia and Wisconsin.
Quote:
"Based on the extent of the corrosion, Toyota will either apply a corrosion-resistant compound to the affected area or replace the rear cross-member if necessary," NHTSA said. "In the event that the rear cross-member cannot be replaced, Toyota will develop a remedy for those vehicles."

I see Toyota is still battling frame rust, some things never change.

These foreign truck makers just can't catch a break. I may consider them if they could hold a candle to the good ol' boys trucks.

Hrm...lemme check...Nope, my 24 year old Ford has 0 structural rust. Hell, there isn't even surface rust on any of the frame rails or crossmembers.

Come on, Toyota. Pick up the slack. If Ford could rustproof trucks in the 80's, and you're so much better than Ford, you oughtta be able to do it.

My rigs:

1985 Ford F150 | 4x2 | 300ci OHV inline six | 4-speed OD manual | 310K | No power brakes | Running 100% - It hasn't driven this good in 15 years!

1984 Ford F150 | 4x2 | 300ci six | granny four | 3.55 rear end | 210K | Brakes shot. Rear drums are doing most of the work. Not fit to drive due to that.
1997 Ford Explorer XLT | 4.0L Vulcan V6 | 5-speed automatic | shift-on-the-fly 4WD | 210,000 miles | Running 95% - Needs brakes on all four corners + bald tires
1989 Ford F150 | 300cid six...again | 5-speed | 4x4 | 160K | Needs brakes done as well. Oi!

Yeah, everyone knows it, Japanese suck at metal work. It's just amazing how long it's taking them to work it out.

On a side note, my 96 is completely rust free. Body and frame!

The silvy has some surface body rust, because its a MN plow truck and spreads SALT all day. Blazer has one tiny spot on the rocker panel, not bad.
