Default My insurance quote.

I just went on the Progressive website and had them give me a quote on a 1992 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4. I have never had insurance before and have nothing on my record. They want over $3000 every six months. It is a good thing I can get on my parents insurance. Who can afford $500 a month for insurance when they are 18? Damn sports cars with their expensive insurance.

Duh... your going to pay big money until you turn 25, unless you build a bad rap sheet.

Well I obviously knew that it was going to cost a lot but over $500 month seems excessive.

Sorry for reviving an old thread, but why wouldn't everyone be on their parents insurance? It's sooooo much cheaper.

Is there a big difference or something?

same here at 18 I was paying 495 to insure a cadillac but my ws6 at 17 only cost me 230 go figure on that both policies threw Progressive but then again I totalled the ws6 which progressive paid for then got the caddy so they probably taxed me to get the money back.

I was 36 a week for insurance at 17 when I had my GT. got a ticket, went to traffic school, stayed the same. had a car accident, shot up to 70 a week, now my insurance is going up again because of another speeding ticket, and an accident but it wasn't my fault.

What were the issues you had with your GT if you don't mind my asking? Were they engine related, mods related? Usually it's a very reliable engine.
