Question Suggestions for my Honda prelude

Hi there I am needing some advice really from anyone

I currently have had my driving licence since july 06 which ok is not long but because I have had my car and insured it dince feb 06 my 1st yrs no claims is up and so I am already looking at getting my new car, my car I have is a 1.4 corsa it was good to learn and start driving in but i want something that i can modify. Playing with the looks and performance!

Basically my boyfriend has a honda 1.6 vtec (the rover shaped model 5dr) and I love it its punchy and the vtec is just the dogs! But i am looking for something smaller and have discovered the prelude yes older but still pretty good looking (as I can only afford 2000 max) 2.0 vtec 2dr coupe but I cant get a honest answer out of my boyfriend to whether it'll be as fast or faster than his I know (prob cos hes a tad bit jeleous that his gf might have a faster car than him) and in a way its slightly true all our mates laugh at me cos of my corsa and I cant go out driving with the rest of em cos i wont keep up!!
So I wanna show him there you've had it my honest answer!
Well any ideas Ive added the pics of the car and the details I have seen and basically want the rest of you who know a bit more of what ur talking about to pass your suggestions and advice to me of the potential I have with this car and is it worth it?

That car actually has a 2.2 liter engine in it so unless this car has had the engine swapped it still does (probably just a misprint) and it will indeed be faster than your boyfriends car. They have a little under 200hp and are faster than all hondas except the S2000, Integra Type R, and NSX. There are also quite a few tuning parts you can buy for the Prelude. Seems like a good deal as well. I would say go for it.

i thought this as originally i was looking at a 2.2 but couldnt find one but then found this one from a car dealership with 2.0 so thought i'd make do with that, but even if it is another engine replacement is that such a problem you see i know a bit about cars but i am wanting to learn more so bear with me. Thanks for ur advice

Well if it does have a different engine swapped into it really depends on what it is. The 4th generation Prelude never came with a 2 liter engine. You should give the people that are selling it a call to determine what engine it has.

do you have any idea what you are talking about?

the prelude she wants to purchase is the euro version w/ a 2.0l motor...its the correct motor...it has not been swaped..

and 4th gens(usdm) came with 2.3 l non vtec motors

only the 5th gens(usdm) came with the h22...except in Europe they came with a 2.0L

Did you realize that this thread was from about 1 1/2 years ago? At the time I posted those responses I had just assumed she was in the US. Though the part about her driving a Corsa would have told me she was in the UK if I had read into it. Also the 4th generation USDM Preludes came with H22s and H23s.

USDM Si's came with H23A1's, and VTEC models came with H22A1's rated at 190hp. JDM H22's are H22A's, rated at 200hp. The only difference i remember is H22A's had a slightly higher compression.
