What do people think of the G8?

Thumbs up

The Pontiac G8 looks like a winner and a true BMW 3 Series fighter!

I don't like the little scoops in the hood (of the G8 shown at the Chicago auto show).

In profile, it looks like a 3 Series, as well with the short overhangs and front wheels pushed forward.

The key to success, I believe, will be in the engine and chassis. As well as other things, like interior refinement (which GM seems to be getting better at).

I look forward to hearing more on the G8!

Its a good looking car. I like it. Wonder what engines it is going to end up with. Be nice if there was an option to get the LS2 from the GTO or Monaro in it.

I'd love to have a G8, V8 of course. MSRP is under $30,000 USD.

For 2009 model year there is supposed to be a G8 GXP with the LS3. That would be my weapon of choice. The LS3 is in the 2008 Corvette btw (430hp). I have a feeling the new Camaro is going to have an LS3.

Hey now. I almost have 100k miles and no leaking oil thank you very much . Runs like a champ! You're just jealous you need twin turbos to make p'ar when Chevy makes big p'ar naturally aspirated

The new Skylines are going to be around $100k here. Dealers are marking up the prices ridiculously. I'd rather have a ZR1 for that price, or even a Z06 for $70k.

The Holden Monaro was marketed as the Pontiac GTO for the 2004 to 2006 model years. Sales did not live up to expectations. "Quote"

OK, the reason why sales didnt reach expectations on the GTO in the past years is because the body style is lacking sooo much detail. Back in the day, GTO were the "Judge", they were awsome. Todays models look like they took some common looking car and put a 420 hp engine in it. You cant just boost up sales by putting a huge engine in it alone. You got to do some extra body work.

Think about it, if they started selling ford Taursus wid 400 hp engines and didnt do any body work to it and sold it for 30,000 just because of the engine, they wouldnt sell that many cuz you gotta look good while going 150mph.

Bunt Poniac is going to get some great sales off of there new G8 GT in my oppinion cuz it has a mean look to it with even more horses. That and the new Dodge Charger R/T is going to be competing in sales cus even though the charger has more looks, the G8 GT has more engine. Its gonna be a good year for Pontiac I believe

Amen to that

I mean, how can you not like chevy in any way after all the great things they have done.

It's definitely nice to see Pontiac getting back to form.
