Question Nissan Sentra vs Kia Forte Koup

Ok, so i'm having a dilemma here.
I have an 09' Sentra 2.0s, I find the engine is weak, its a little bulky and the design is weird, but it was given to me so I can't complain too much.
But heres my issue, I either want to make it look nicer, and a bit faster (cold air, ecu, catback, torque converter etc.) but im wondering if I shouldn't just save up for another car.
The forte Koup I could get right now brand new for about $23,000, the issue is I dont have that right now, because im in highschool. But over the next two summers I could make around $9-8k. By then the sentra will have about 48,000 clicks on it.
My dilemma is that i've heard Kia is one of the least reliable automakers, and I wouldnt want to get rid of my very reliable nissan to buy something that will break down in a few years. I also wouldnt want to save up, while driving a chunky looking car to find out the depreciation is enourmous.
So what do you guys think?
And no, i dont want to get a civic because its an even smaller engine, unless i got the Si, which is around $27000, and would have to be used for a number of years to fit in my price range

I would stick with the nissan.

Kias aren't unreliable. I don't mind them; they've gotten a lot better the past fifteen years despite what everyone will tell you.
