Question help please-problem with vectra

hi, i have a 1996 N reg vectra, i took the battery off for a couple of days and fully charged it however now i have put it back on i have this orange light flashing on dash and car wont start.i went to vauxhall dealer and they told me it has lost its memory,they say i will have to pay 60 for a tech 2 test to see whats wrong then at least 20 minimum to reprograme it + i also have to pay 20 to order a new card with my codes on as there wasnt one with the vehicle when i got iti rang the person i got car from and he said he never had books/cards with it.does any one know of a cheaper way to sort this out please,or has it simply got to be done through vauxhall.any help appeciated thanks. james

That thing about the memory is true and you are probably going to have to end up paying the dealer to fix it. Doesn't seem like they are overcharging you so I would just pay it. You basically don't want to take out and leave out the battery on newer cars.

Gotta love all the computer systems in cars now days. Soon youll need a degree just to replace the battery and rotate the tires! lol

Just pay what you must, you just wiped out the computer on the car from it not having power for a period of time. I doubt there is any way you can go about fixing this yourself. Sorry to hear it...
