Default Who has owned what?

I got my start in the early 70's with Volkswagens. I worked at VW shops even before I bought my first car. Over several years I acquired over 35 VW's of various types, Bugs, Type-2, Type-3, Ghia, Rabbit, Scirocco, Jetta, Passat, gas & diesels. Worked at dealers in the 80's.

Then got a job at a general repair shop. Bought my first Mazda, 1972 RX2 rotary. Then came several R100's, all modified for auto-X,an RX3 and then built a rotary powered Super Beetle.

Then over the remaining years, a full size GMC van, a V8 Vega, Full size Jimmy 4x4, Jeep Cherokee, Suzuki LJ & Samurai, an Acura Legend, my current AWD Jimmy, and my wife's Lexus ES300, oh, and rode Honda M/C for a couple of years.

I'm sure I've forgotten a few but that's pretty much all of them.

The best vehicles I have ever owned, hands down is the Lexus closely followed by the Legend.

Fiat, Opel, and Peuguot in Poland. Oldsmobile wagon something was our first car in the US. Then we had a 91 Jetta, ran great. Had a few volvo's. 850, 740, 240. The 240 was by far the best. Toyota Camry, 96 and 2010. 2 Nissan Sentra's, a 96 and 97. 2001 Nissan Maxima. 91 Toyota MR2.

Best we've ever owned: The 97 Sentra. Drives amazing. Bought for 1,600 bucks with 96k miles. Now at 120k while doing some serious commuting to college and only oil changes have been done. Looks like new also.

Lesson to future buyers: Buy from asians!

Yes, I will admit I owned a Fiat 128. Bought it for $50 and spent about $200 getting it running. Drove it for a few months, WORST car I EVER owned. Well, actually the 1996 Diesel Jetta was!

MPV, Sentra and Subaru,... I knew I forgot some.

I wonder if I can go as far back as my childhood.

Back when I was merely a wee infant (1988-1989), my parents had a Ford Pinto. I don't know what my parents had when we lived in Austin (1990-1991), then my parents moved here, to Tucson. Again, I don't know what my parents drove for the first few years we were here. 1994 rolled around, we had a Buick something Ultra. It was that superbly famous sedan of theirs, in that time period. My mom drove an Oldsmobile Eighty-Eight, and my grandparents had a Chevy Caprice Classic. This would hold true till 1995. My mom sold her Olds, and my grandpa traded in the Caprice for a Lumina. Come 1997, my dad has an urge to upgrade. We get a Polo Green with Tan leather Cadillac Deville with a dealer only package. The Buick was on lease, so that had to go. My uncle gave my grandpa his 1997 Ford Explorer Limited. 1999 came around, and my dad leased (seriously, he didn't like the idea of owning for whatever reason) a Mitsubishi Montero. My mom drove the Montero while my dad drive the Caddy. My dad lived in Dallas for a 6-month project and owned a F150, don't know what year though. That Montero took us to NorCal and Dallas in the same year, I'm smack in the middle. My dad was business partners with a carpenter that bounced with all the money. My dad was left with a little tan Nissan Pickup, that is blue in my avatar, that would happen to be my first vehicle. Leases on both the Montero and Caddy were up, and FINALLY, my dad got some sense to buy a car. This was around the time my dad got laid off from IBM, so money was tighter than a C-clamp trying to hold a backhoe in place. My grandparents moved out at this time too, so no more vehicles of theirs will be added from this point forward. We found an awesome deal on a 1992 Mazda MPV, it wasn't the greatest, but it got the job done. It was, also, the first car for me to drive on a regular basis. MPV was taking a dump, so we found a 1997 Nissan Quest that served us more than we payed for it. I graduated HS shortly after and acquired the Nissan pickup. My sister, also, graduated HS and my dad bought her a 1997 Kia Sportage, which, he kept after all. There have been no changes in vehicle lineup, until mid 2008. My trusty pickup started refusing anything I asked of it. Blew vacuum lines, and started loosening spark plugs by itself. I couldn't get it running again, so I sold it. Come mid 2009, I find a 1998 Nissan Altima with 195K miles on it, with an engine that has hardly 45K miles on it for $2000. I've been driving that since. My moms van took a dump and is now sitting in a lot, waiting to be taken to the auction. Owner of said lot is a family friend and is hooking us up with another taxi. So far, it looks to be a 2002-2004 Dodge/Chrysler Caravan/Town and Country.

First thing I ever drove at all was a mid 80's Civic we had. Backed that up a couple of times in the driveway. Yes, it was a manual.

Then, I was taken to a parking lot and let loose with a 2003 Ranger V6 5speed.

First public road drive was in a 1996 Nissan 200SX-SE, and man do I miss that thing. It had a gerbil in a wheel for an engine and a clutch that was barely clinging to life, but holy crap did it turn good. Spry little thing.

Wrecked it, as most people tend to do to their first car, and I got the F150 I now have. The F150 is a bit more reliable than the Nissan(The Nissan had one cylinder that had very weak compression rings, so it was REALLY low on power, and the Oil PSI light was flickering. The engine was on it's last legs when I wrecked it), but man I miss that little thing when I crest a hill that cuts into a sharp right.

If they were all sitting in front of me, I'd choose the F150. It's the most reliable, most stable, easiest to service and most comfortable vehicle I've driven to date.

My rigs:

1985 Ford F150 | 4x2 | 300ci OHV inline six | 4-speed OD manual | 310K | No power brakes | Running 100% - It hasn't driven this good in 15 years!

1984 Ford F150 | 4x2 | 300ci six | granny four | 3.55 rear end | 210K | Brakes shot. Rear drums are doing most of the work. Not fit to drive due to that.
1997 Ford Explorer XLT | 4.0L Vulcan V6 | 5-speed automatic | shift-on-the-fly 4WD | 210,000 miles | Running 95% - Needs brakes on all four corners + bald tires
1989 Ford F150 | 300cid six...again | 5-speed | 4x4 | 160K | Needs brakes done as well. Oi!

The first car I owned was a 1979 Chevy Nova which we traded to have a motor put in my dads work truck. Then came my 1979 Cadillac Deville Coupe Phantom which the computer went out on and there was no replacement to have(to bad to this was a mint car). I purchased a 1983 Chrysler Fifth avenue Newyorker edition which I kept through HS and sold after. Then the list goes on.

1980 GMC 2500 2WD 400 SB
1992 Fomula Firebird WS6 (Totalled)
1980 Trans Am Bandit edition with out the BB
1996 Cadiallac Deville Chery red with Chrome rims
1989 firebird V6 5speed really clean car (totalled)
1990 Camaro RS V6 Auto
1986 Z-28 camaro 355 SB 420hp (lost in the move from Katrina)
1993 Honda Civic LX (totalled)
2000 Chevy cavalier LS silver 4dr (Totalled)
2007 Jeep Liberty 4X4
2000 Cavalier Z-24 5sp

And I just got approval from the wife to buy a 2006 GTO 5speed just need to find the right one and pay off the bedroom set first. Problem is all the ones I find are Auto and most red which I don't want.

First car i ever drove was my dad's super old '86 red Chevy half ton W/T with a 4.3L V6 and a 5 speed manual. He still swears that truck had more power than any 350 automatic he's owned.

My personal list is only 3 cars long so i'll list off my family's cars since i was around..

'86 (roughly) Chevy 1500 W/T (work truck) Cheyenne - 4.3 V6 5 speed (dad's) bought brand new
'89 Chevy Astro Passenger Van - 4.3L V6 automatic (mom's van)
'89 (roughly) Chevy 1500 W/T (work truck) Cheyenne - 5.7L V8 automatic (dad's) bought brand new, totalled, not at fault
'95 Chevy 1500 Silverado - 5.7L V8 automatic (dad's) bought used with 60k, now has upwards of 500k miles, we sold at 225k
'98 Honda CR-V EX - 2.0L I4 DOHC 5 speed (mom's) bought used, ran like horsecrap. I don't remember this thing EVER not having a misfire. NOBODY could figure out why. I learned to drive a stick on this thing.
'00 Chevy 2500 Silverado LT NON HD - 6.0L V8 automatic (dad's, but i'm the only one who drives it) bought used, now has 170k on it, body damaged
'03 Pontiac Grand Prix GT - 3800 SII V6 automatic (mom's) bought with 25k miles, now has 140k
'94 Mercury Tracer Wagon - 2.0L I4 automatic (sister's) went throuhg two engines, 6 cracked heads, and 8 head gaskets within 18 month period, enough said. Driven very lightly, never abused, always maintained. Horrible car.
'08 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution - 2.0L I4 Turbo 5 speed - mine, but i only drove it about 100 miles. I got it from a guy who thought the engine was blown, and fixed it. Just head gasket. I got it incredibly cheap and made about $20k on it, never had intentions of keeping it.
'03 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP - 3800 SII V6 Supercharged (mine) identical to mom's grand prix, but the GTP supercharged version. I put about 40k miles on it and sold it. Quite the downgrade from the Mitsu
'95 Pontiac Bonneville SSE - 3800 SII V6 (sister's) replacement for the piece of junk money pit Tracer. Has 170k miles, has a light knock currently. Good car though.
'96 Chevy Blazer S10 - 4.3L V6 automatic - 4WD replacement for my GTP which i got bored with. Much more suited for my driving. Has 198k miles currently. Considerable profit from the downgrade.
