Default Retros 200sx Thread

It's running, and pretty well at that for not being driven for a few months. Here is my list of things to get done: (In no specific order. Bold = done)

1. Brakes. Fronts are screeching.
2. Valve Cover Gasket. It's leaking pretty bad. It's evident that it is the gasket.

3. Thermostat. I drove the car for a while today and it only got about 1/4 up. I didn't have the heat on. This is probably a thermostat problem right? (I guess this is normal.)
4. Transmission flush/ filter change. Tranny kicks in 1st. (After some reading on these cars, this may be normal too?)
5. Front left bulb is faded.
6. Install new head unit! Volume knob is crappy on the stock one.
7. Back right speaker blown. I need to visit my local junkyard again. (Ordering new aftermarket speakers tuesday.)
8. Blower Motor Regulator. AC is ice cold, but only works on HI. Annoying.
9. Febreeze the interior. Smells like BO for some reason....
10. A good wash and wax.
11. Replace Evap Canister Purge Valve.
12. Replace PCV Valve.

1/4 of the way up the gauge is where my '96 ran. Trust me that's fine, it's well within the normal range of that idiot gauge. That's where it should be.

Also, my '96 had the same problem with the blower motor. Full blast or no blast. Common failure on them I guess, I never got around to fixing it though.

It's typically the blower motor resistor.

Yeah, resister not regulater. It's out on the silverado. Also, what are the temp specs for it?

I don't know what the temp specs are for it.

I'm also hearing some screeching while driving without braking. Is this an indication of a bad wheel bearing or could this be related to the completely worn brakes?

FWIW my Ford only rides about a quarter of the way up it's idiot gauge as well. Maybe halfway if it's 90+ outside and it's idling/on the interstate, but never more than that. Even halfway up the gauge it's only at about 200F, well within the safe range for my engine(I figure this because my new thermostat is a 190 and it opens just before halfway up).


Those idiot gauges aren't the best way to read out engine vitals...as long as it's in the normal range it's fine.

mine is half way up no matter what, but with this new water pump it just gets there that much quicker.

Mine sits right in the middle. About 190-215. I've gotten it up to 240 in the black hills, but she was pulling hard in them switchbacks made me proud
