Default engine done - what is my car worth for parts?

Engine is fried in my 2001 Ford Taurus, $1500 to replace. Have no idea what it is worth if I junk it.

battery and alternator are less than 10 days old
tires are about 4 months old
body is in decent shape, no body damage. small amount of rust near one of the wheel wells.
windshield has 6-7 inch "L" shaped crack on passenger side.
interior is in good shape.

thanks in advance!!

Have you tried checking for a used engine? I'm sure if you part out your vehicle you can get as much as a new/used engine.

What about a used engine, I was gonna put a used one in a 2001 Impala for about 700 installed if nothing was wrong with the engine.

sorry, thats what i meant -- poor choice of words. To install a used engine would run me $1200. Do you think that is too much?

Another thing is, this was the car we used to drive when we traveled, and everything seemed to stop working at once. So we are ready to get a newer car so we can stop worrying about it.

the mechanic said he would give me $300. i will probably just take it, considering the car is 120 miles from where i live, and not near a populated area.

I was considering buying a 2001 Taurus to sell it a few weeks ago. The transmission was out on it, and it was about the same price. He wanted $500 for it, and $1400 for a transmission made it to the point where i'd be losing money. Take the $300.

Just realized how creepy my last post was. Drunk posting = never a good idea. What I meant was that if you did, that you should fix it and keep it for them. Buying a car for a grand these days means you're just buying somebody elses problem. You might as well stick with the devil you know. I know its been a few days, but I just couldn't leave that previous remark alone
