Default First Car

I'm getting a job this summer and I hope I'll be able to buy my first car before college starts. I'll have around $7,000(all together) to spend. I live in NYC. Since I won't be working when school starts I'm looking for something that won't consume a lot of gas, at the same having a decent size engine. Untill now, I've been driving my sister's 99' Ford Contour. I'm looking for something with lowest milage possible, cheap maintenance and decent looks

So far I've been considering those:
1. 00-02 Mitsubishi Eclipse with around 60k mileage.
2. 02-03 Hyundai Sonata around 50k mileage.
3. 05 Kia Rio 22k miles.

If you have different suggestions, please let me know and tell why. I really appreciate the help.

Yeah stay away from Kias, terrible cars. For $7,000 you could get any number of older German cars but they can get expensive to maintain (for example, parts for my BMW cost quite a bit) so I would reccomend to you a Japanese car. Honda and Toyota specifically, like an Accord, Civic or Camry.

Nope they generally suck all around the world, poor build quality etc., they are cheap for a reason.
