What are you using the car for? What are your goals for the car? Do you plan to have passengers in the car? Whats your budget?

Uh, for now, i see no need for a cage. You not racing, and its a street car, and your not even 18. When it becomes a DEDICATED track car, or a weekend warrior, then determine what is required for you class. Then find a shop near you that can fabricate one, or weld in a roll cage kit.

Then get a cheap little 4 point bolt in, and lots off padding and helmets for anyone riding in the back.

As I said on the harnesses thread, safety modification cannot be done one at a time. They all have to be done simultanously.

Some of these, roll cages crowns all, are used in environments where specialist medical attention is nearby. Otherwise (i.e. on the public road) a roll cage would simply make it harder for you and your passenger to evacuate yourself or be evacuated from the car.

You will also be tempering with chassis stiffness, weight distribution and overall weight of the car (and therefore handling) and with it's crumple zones and airbag inflation triggers (and therefore safety) and need to install padding as well.

Also, I'd really hate to be in a car that is involved in a collision with another car what has a roll cage when I happen to not have them.

It's just like getting a big sturdy car (which most people also do for looks) - you increase your safety at the expense of others rather than in favor of all those involved, as would be the case should you choose a more safe car to begin with.

In short, when next you think about modding a car, don't think looks, think safety, think practicality, think performance.

I would say you get some small PVC pipe, spray paint it metallic and glue it into place as a "looks" roll cage.
