Default Interior Detailing

I received my (used) car in good condition, but the interior is a little dirty. The leather has some scratches, there are a few stains on the back seats, the mats and carpet have huge oil stains, and there is a very faint alcohol-like odor that I cannot fully identify yet. Should I use a detailing service? If so, is there anything to look out for or ask about?

Thanks

Do it yourself. Leather is easy to clean, just buy a product from the store. Seats are a matter of dish detergent, sponge, and some elbow grease. The stained carpet is the hardest part. For that you need a hard bristle brush, oxi clean, and possibly renting a rug doctor from walmart or jewel. My carpet was stained with coffee and was practically new after the rug doctor went through it.

I believe Armorall makes a leather treatment, should be available at your local WalMart.

Rented the rug doctor and it did a mediocre job compared to what I saw on the ad (did not remove oil stains), but hey, no more mold in my mats

Borrowed a good wet/dry vac from a friend and the carpet looks much better
