Default Problems with Power Locks

Hey guys.

Since it was raining the other day (and i had to roll down my window for like 30 sec in pouring rain), my power locks are having some problems, intermittently.

Now, i don't know if the water caused it. It happened that day, it could be a coincidence.

Sometimes they will work perfectly fine. Then sometimes i can press it and it'll make a little noise, but it won't lock completely or unlock. It doesn't matter whether i'm using the drivers side switch, passenger side switch, or remote. Same symptoms.

I would've just replaced the switch, but it does'nt make sense that the other side and remote woulnd't work either. Wouldn't that point to a relay? But then the relay failure wouldn't be intermittent, right?

GM has had trouble with dirty contacts in their power lock switches. The rain probably made the debris in the switch more fluid and it moved and now the contacts are mucky. The power passes through the switch on the other door, so that is why it's the some on both doors, making you believe that it must be something else.

I've had good luck with electronic contact cleaner, just remove the switch and hose it thoroughly while you rock the switch. You can get the contact cleaner at a place like Radio Shack.
