Hello. I want to acquire cars from The Fast & Furious movies. What do you guys think of this one, now on Ebay? Basically a new 2003 Eclipse Spyder with under 300 miles on the drive train that was on camera in F&F2. What, in your opinion, is a reasonable offer for something like this?
Here's the Ebay link; you may have to copy it to your browser: Mitsubishi : Eclipse GTS in Mitsubishi | eBay Motors Thanks Bob |

If I were to spend that kind of money on a tuner car, I don't think an Eclipse would ever cross my mind. Go for a Supra perhaps.
Do you mean literally the exact same cars used in the movie?

Yes, literally the car used in the movie; I checked. One of the scenes is shown in the video link in the Ebay listing. Wondering what would be a fair opening offer, not insulting to the seller. Afraid if it's too low he won't think it's serios and won't respond.
PS. Yeah, Supra's rock. The one used in the original Fast & Furious must be worth a fortune by now. |

The crappy eclipses. The first gens can be fast..those aren't. Even as a collector it'll never appreciate much in value.

Not so sure. And the car itself doesn't have to be fast. The bland 911S Steve Mcqueen drove for 2 minutes at the beginning of the 1971 movie "LeMans" sold for $7 million at Pebble Beach last year. Meanwhile F&F6 is about to be released. I will scream if some guy in China buys this car and then flips it in 5 years for $100k - when F&F11 comes out! That movie series has a world-wide fanbase that's only growing bigger. |

Movie cars are rarely what they appear to be. They are built to "perform" as expected and be safe for the stunt driver. They are usually rough up close as the camera won't be looking that close, they have a close-up car for that. The performing car's interior is usually gutted for fire safety reasons and to make the car lighter.
If you are simply desiring to own "the" movie car and don't actually care that it isn't going to appear to be a "real" driving car then go ahead if you've got money for that. I don't really think the movie is going to be a true classic like Bullit or some of the other classic car movies.
