Default Another which appliance car should I buy?

In between a used 2012 Nissan versa and used 2012 Toyota corolla both with around 30k miles on them both automatics. Probably just driving myself in the city most of the time.
EPA says versa has better MPG but real world estimates put them loser together.
Corolla is $1700 more. Is it worth it? Drove them both and was satisfied with either.
Looking for reliability and good resale value along with decent mpg.
Thanks

Corolla.

Versa is the cheapest car in the US right now, and it's still not a bargain...

What's your price range? I've driven both and they are terrible cars compared to others in this class. 12 corolla is an uninspired rehash of the same 15 year old car and the versa is just bad in all respects.

I wouldn't go over $14K. I'm trying to do this through the Hertz Rent2buy program so the Corolla and Versa are available in my area in that range.
Though they also have some Sentras. I haven't yet seen the Hertz Car, you have to book in advance, but I do plan to take it (or them) to a dealer to get a pre purchase inspection and have another mechanic look at it just to double check.
I've read all about the Pros and Cons of buying rentals so I'm just trying to decide the model.
Any alternatives in that range than the Corolla then?

Well if it must be a rental, you aren't left with many options lol.

I drive a rental car for about 12 days per month and have driven quite a few vehicles in the last year as a result) The sentra is a much better vehicle than the versa is imo. I've liked the mazdas in this class that I've driven as well. I love my Sonic though a lot more than anything else available in this price range and my next option would be a Cruze.
