Default First Car-A Dilemma

Hey all! I'm looking for my first car. I have compared countlessly and have never quite made a decision. I am between the 2015 Mazda 3 Hatch and the 2015 VW Golf TDI. I've test driven both cars and found both to be unbelievable in different ways. The Golf and Mazda both feel premium and fun to drive. I'm getting a manual transmission, if that's relevant. In addition, I'm unsure whether to buy or lease. Lease deals are unbelievable right now but I don't want to have to worry about overages on miles. I'd really appreciate some input! Thanks

Golf's are fun, but they are very problem (electrical) prone. The Mazda is a better economic choice and is a great vehicle. I am personally against vehicle leasing but I know there are situations where it makes sense. What is your economic situation? How old are you? What will you be using this car for?

Not really the case anymore for VW honestly. The Mk4 days are long gone.
