Default Need a good daily/drift car for under $2000

So criteria easily accessible in north carolina and how far out would i have to look to get a good deal. RWD, Manual, reliable.

Where I live I have tried to find cars but apparently around here on craigslist a beat up 240sx is like $6000. Also I'm not a mechanic but I have free (free as in I DON'T HAVE TO PAY! ) access to a full shop with just about every tool so a little work is not a problem. Doesn't have to be the fastest thing out there just a basic car.

A miata or 180/240 like you mentioned comes to mind. You might not find one that runs and drives for that budget so hopefully you find one that doesn't but can be fixed on the cheap. Or maybe you can, I'm not totally sure.

What about money for the development of the driver?

It's going to make much greater a difference than any of the variables listed above.

FYI, a basic Miata isn't quite the best Drifting platform out there.

I was thinking more along the lines of professional coaching.

Given that there is most likely an entire atlantic and medditerreanian between us, it costs me nothing to say that coaching is crucial for performance.

I you just go modding the vehicle, you might hold a drift for longer or at a bigger angle, but it is likely to be harder for the driver to do so.

I wasn't talking about something constant.

What do you think will get your drifting better, a set of coilovers or a couple of hours with someone like Don Palmer, for example?
