Default Mazda 5 or cx 7?

I am looking for a wagon, no newer than 2012. I want a back compartment that goes fully flat for camping, decent gas mileage, and most important, a reliable car that will likely not need many expensive repairs.

Based on my research, the Mazda 5 and the Mazda cx 7 look the most appealing. I would love to hear what people think of these, and if there is anything similar to consider. I have stayed away from Subaru, due to low gas mileage, trendy and overpriced, and I have been told that with Subaru AWD if one tire goes, it is required to replace all the tires.

I currently drive a 1993 Subaru Legacy, which I have owned for about 5 years, and has needed nothing but routine maintenance.(tires, breaks, oil change) At 277k miles, it is getting on in age, and I have been told by two mechanics that the transmission may wear out eventually, and to be prepared to replace the transmission or the car. I have as well read that the main weaknesses of this car are the transmission, and the noisy engine.

I'd still go for a CX 7.
