Default Yo yo yo!

Just hopped over from OCN. I have no money right now, but a car is sounding hella tight. Thus, I am here, learning up, and getting to know mroe about cars in general. For a long time, I've liked driving, and riding in people's cars, and the nicer the better.

Right now, driving my Dad's 99 Dakota Sport with a Magnum V8 in it. I'm more of an import guy myself, but this truck hauls, and I like that. I even went so far as to try putting Premium gas in it, and it actually did make a difference.

OK, enough talk here, just figured I'd introduce myself as far as cars goes.

Welcome! Nice to have another good member. But i dont understand how you say premium gas made a difference in the truck, unless its supposed to be used and was'nt previously. Higher octane does not raise fuel efficiency or power output, unless the motor was meant to run on higher octane and has compensated timing for using cheaper gas....

Welcome to the site bro..

Racing fuel can increase the output of cars that will adjust for it. Your car might run leaner with better fuel due to the fact that higher octane fuel lowers the chances of detonation. As far as gas mileage goes. I think running leaner does increase gas mileage due to using less fuel. My engine is a JDM d15b. which will only run in lean burn mode if it is on 93 octane or higher. unfortunately most gas stations only have 91 octane. In lean burn mode if my car is on the first cam it runs at 20:1 A/F ratio. I know that is high but honda engineered it that way. It is one of the reasons why I snatched this motor instead of the same 1.6 liter. It has 3 cam profiles. a low a mid and high rpm level. I made 34mpg last week and regularly make about 30mpg. I ran 93 with octane booster in my car for one tank and got almost 37mpg. I was trying to stay on the first cam in lean burn mode. That only allows me to go up to 2700rpm I think.

So, which gas station gives the best gas? I'm not using credit, so any place is fine. Which should I buy from?
