Default WRX STI vs BRZ

Which should I buy for the 2013 year?

Neither. Why waste $$ on a new car? Used cars are much better prices

Test drive both and see which you like better.

I would go with the BRZ on the sole point that it's not a street-legal rally car that everyone else in my age group rambles on about. I'm so bored of the Evo and WRX that, at this point, if I never see another one on the road I'd be a happy man.

You know the car's past history far better and you get a warranty to handle things breaking. That's why.

Well, that, and some people like shiny, new cars that they can hand-pick the options for. I'm guilty of it too, there's very few I'd buy new I'll admit but there are a few cars I'd love to buy new. Miata, Corvette, maybe a small light truck if one can be had with a stick, something like that. Much anything else I'd have to buy used since I insist on having an MT in everything I own, but there's still a few things I can buy new, and I'd do so with the options configured as I want.

My rigs:

1985 Ford F150 | 4x2 | 300ci OHV inline six | 4-speed OD manual | 310K | No power brakes | Running 100% - It hasn't driven this good in 15 years!

1984 Ford F150 | 4x2 | 300ci six | granny four | 3.55 rear end | 210K | Brakes shot. Rear drums are doing most of the work. Not fit to drive due to that.
1997 Ford Explorer XLT | 4.0L Vulcan V6 | 5-speed automatic | shift-on-the-fly 4WD | 210,000 miles | Running 95% - Needs brakes on all four corners + bald tires
1989 Ford F150 | 300cid six...again | 5-speed | 4x4 | 160K | Needs brakes done as well. Oi!

Personally i would say STI is better in the city as its AWD and has tons more power. BRZ has the cool new factor and the history and fun in a track because it real wheel drive. If it was me i would wait for next gen WRX/STI before i make a choice. Also i dont like the fact that there is BRZ/GT86/FR-S are the same cars. I like brand loyalty. Because of this if you want a fast car i would get a EVO.

Evo X is a joke though compared to the older ones. Then again so is the newest Impreza.

You might also wait for the BRZ WRX - it's said to be coming. Hopefully they don't make a BRZ WRX STI, its just two many three letter sequences.

The name's already hard enough to tell apart from the alphabet soup of electronic aids federally mandated on new cars as it is.
