Default new sorta first car?

so right now i drive a 94 explorer, got some bigger tires and a system and thats about it. i want to get another car thats cheap to maintain (joining the military and want to save some money, not waste it all) i was thinking of getting something semi sporty, but cheap (to buy, operate, and maintain) im not sure which way to go. i work at a parts store, and i notice that parts for domestic vehicles are typically 2/3 the price of an import (120 for a nissan alternator, 80 for a ford) while japanese imports seem to be a bit more reliable.

im thinking something like a civic (88-00, i like em all), accord (5th gen), b13 sentra, i-beam ranger (4 cyl, 5 speed, 2wd), im open to suggestions.

I own a 99 Ford Explorer....kinda does have it's share of problems, so i can see why you would want to get rid of it so you can get something that is easier to maintain. I'd go for a Honda (civic/accord) like you said. I've seen them get 200,000miles + Also, if you like trucks, I'd go for an older Toyota, because they hold together very well and are good on gas.

Acura Integra GSR. Very reliable, older models are inexpensive, tons of aftermarket support, good gas mileage, and a blast to drive.

Get an older mazda for something that is very cheap on gas and you might even make it to 300,000 miles.
