Default Intro, and my new car!

Hi all. I got redirected here through OCN. So here goes for my introduction!

Out with the old, '97 Camaro with 202K miles on it...

... and in with the new! '12 CPO A3 with 16K miles (I brought it over 17K now).

So yes, I like hatches a lot, even though I'm American. And yes I also know something called a GTI exists. But I have my reasons for going for having gone the A3, even though it cost a lot more.

Sweet car! I've always had a thing for clean Audi's.

Does this particular model have the 2.0 turbo?

I couldn't mind a manual that met the year/miles criteria along with factory specs. If I had done this a year ago when these were still in production for the USA, it would have been option. But it seems like since the A3 is being changed into a sedan, what's left of the hatch is left, and I'm just happy I found one right here spec'd out exactly how I've always wanted (minus the manual). The "S-tronic" is a happy compromise for me. The way it feels when it switches gears and it engine braking in slow traffic was a very pleasant surprise.

Yes sir. I think all the more recent are built with this. Either 2.0T or 2.0TDI were the options I remember. I've seen one or two ads for some very rare 3.2T models, but I honestly don't remember their year. But I do remember them being priced very high.

All I can say is, I've felt a shift in priority as to where I will allocate the of my disposable income.

I don't plan anything major right now. Maybe some light window tints to start. I was asked at the dealer if I wanted them tinted, and I knew right away I didn't want anything dark, so I told them I'd have to play around in PhotoShop to get a better idea of what I may like. Other than that, I've got some roof racks to order for the bike and boards, and some leather seat covers for the front row because they get really hot here in the desert sun (though I do have a custom fit sun shield cover on the way to help with that).

Anyway, here's my first go on what my car tinted, including tails if legal, could look like. I lost some quality and detail here saving as an animated .gif file, but it came good enough for comparison purposes.

I think I'll just leave them alone for now. I just like the new/clean look. It's August and still hot, but the weather will start getting much nicer and milder for the next few months. I think June is easily the hottest month around here. It hasn't pushed 100F for a while now, and it's the "monsoon season" as well, and having rained or been overcast more than I ever remember since moving here, it's helped keep the outside temperatures cooler.
