Default Hi guys, trying to pin down the right car.

Hello everyone. As the title says i'm looking to try to find the right car for me and was hoping someone could help . I'm looking for an older car that I could work on. It has to be manual. I'm wanting something fairly quick that I can take to the track or drag and be able to enjoy it recreationally. My price range is anything below 6k. I like the look of the mazda rx-3, datsun 510 and the nissan gt-r c110 just to give you some ideas. Thanks in advance.

Hi

I cut my teeth on those cars.

I owned several rotary cars and enjoyed them. However the engines are short lived and cost the earth to repair and as a DIY to learn on, it would be a very costly and a frustrating experience.

The Datsun 510 was a very popular car to mod, very unlikely to find an original. Depending where you live the climate may have destroyed most cars. Easily modded but performance options are very limited by now.

The Datsun 240Z was very popular and makes a very nice highway driver. Lots of room in the engine compartment for turbos or a V8 if you are inclined.

Thank you for the inputt! I actually love the datsun 240z. I was looking around on craigslist and found a couple nice 280z's that I really liked. How would you compare the 280 to the 240?

280 obviously way above the 240.

Love me some 280Z.
