Default Hello there.

Hey. I'm about to turn 18 in a few months, and it's been decided that I was going to get a car when that happens. As it turns out, I know absolutely nothing about cars. A lot of my friends own these nice looking asian cars that you'd see in Initial D, like the 240 and the Corolla hatchback. That's about all I know. I was looking into getting something similar, but I have no idea what all the terms are, like S14, KA24DE, and etc.] I'm hoping some of you could educate me.

Hi

Those numbers & letters describe more of the detailed engines available in those cars.

If your simply looking for a good first car a Civic, Corolla or Sentra are a good place to start.

Just hang around here and you can pick up a lot. Most of the members are great and very helpful.

I was actually looking into getting something along the lines of an Integra / 240sx / prelude. Something I can maybe work on a bit, possibly build up a hobby, and drive a cool car around.

I've always liked the 240sx. They're very light, with the ability to be lightened even further, there are tons of aftermarket parts available, and people have shoehorned engines as big as an LS7 into them. 2500lbs + 650hp LS7 = hang on tight...

Now I personally don't know a lot about the prelude, but I know that integra's are decent cars too. They can be had for relatively cheap and they're pretty common so parts shouldn't be too much of an issue if something were to break.
