![]() So recently I bought my brothers old 2002 ford focus zx5. I am the third owner now. There was a recall put in place on the rear door latches getting clogged with dirt and failing to function properly. This recall was put in place in 2005, when the first owner owned it. He never got it fixed, as the problem didn't exist then. When my brother bought the car, the problem of it not latching arose 3 years into owning it, about 2014. He didn't think much of it and just told no one to use the door. I'm a teenager with a lot of friends and I know sooner or later it will get opened and it it a pain it close, so I just want to get it fixed. The thing is, this is almost a 15 year old car, and the recall has been around for 11 years. Can I still get this fixed free or will I have to pay for it? The recall states that the dealer will fix it free of charge, but that was 11 years ago. So will I be charged to get this fixed or no?

![]() you'll have to talk to ford dealer service dept. it is possible they will fix it even thou it is out of warranty, i do not think they care which owner you are 1st or 3rd, this is not warranty. but only service adviser at dealership can tell you for sure, not anyone here,
