Default 95 Isuzu stereo issues

Howdy everyone,

The stereo system in my '95 Isuzu Trooper has been cutting in and out over the past little while (it will stop playing, and then start again when the dashboard is given a little 'love tap').

When I remove the head unit, fiddling with the wiring harness makes the music cut in and out, much like when I hit the dashboard. I'm just wondering if this is likely an issue with the the harness or internal wiring in the head unit itself (ie which of the two I need to replace).

Thanks a ton!

Unlpug the wiring harness and inspect the connections. If the wiring harness looks alright (No loose metal connectors, etc.) then it is probably your head unit.

I ended up getting a new head unit, but in an unrelated incident, I had to jump my battery, and now I can't get either my old or newly purchased head units to turn on. I checked all fuses, and they're fine.

Any thoughts on what could be causing this problem??

Thanks!

Sounds like a major wiring issue. Who installed the first radio? Your going to have to trace all the wire connections and look for any shorts or breaks in the wire/insulation. Sometimes people run wires to the wrong connections and it just causes problems down the road.

Also get a volt meter and test that the radio is getting all necessary power.
