Default my power windows

i have a problem with my power windows on my 2003 chevy cavalier, the problem started about two months ago on the driver side window ,window would go down with no problem, but going up it would go up 1 or two inches then stop, would have to wait a couple of minutes then try again and would go up a little more an so on till i get it all the way up.now last week my passenger side windows does the same thing now ...does that mean that the power window regulators are bad and need to be replaced or, is it just the switch for the windows.....any help would be appreciated..thanks

Lots of problems with the driver's door switches.

They do get used most, and they tend to collect water when the windows are open in the rain and dirt. Over the years it just builds up on the contacts and the window operation becomes hit & miss.

In most cases you just need to clean the switch.

Use an electronic aerosol cleaner and spray it good! Work the switch back and forth to wipe the contacts.

If this doesn't do it, the switch is likely bad.

Still, dust and wear will cause the switch to be intermittent.

Give the contact cleaner a try before you replace the switch.

When the windows DO move, do they creep or crawl when they move, not smoothly and easily?

If so the motors are weak.
