Default Can someone recommend me a good radar detector?

I'm looking at one at the local Advance Auto for $99.99 - it's a Cobra ( XRS 9445, I think) featuring 14-band detection. I really can't spend more than $100 on it - is this the best I can get for that money, or not?

If you can get an Escort or Passport for under $100, get that.

Keep in mind they don't help at all though really. Cops nowadays use laser speed detectors in most states, so they can tell your speed quite a while before your detector would go off.

supposedly the best is still valentine, but they are expensive as hell.

one thing to realize about radar/laser detectors, they don't work well against instant on. They are best if you do most of your traveling in the daytime in fairly busy roadways, so that the officer will be flipping on the instant on from time to time in front of you on other cars.

At night, you would be toast, detector or not, by the instant on
