Default Paint chipping and oxidizing metal -- options?

On the hatch of my car, there's a few spots like this where the paint has been chipped away and there's exposed metal that's juuuust starting to oxidize:

It's been pretty slow, I've only started to notice oxidation like that after a couple of months. I want to stop the process and see if I can touch it up.

What are my best options to stop the oxidation and also touch up that area?

Sand it and the area around it, then hit it with some etching primer. The touch it up with some white paint, you can likely order a small rattle can of color matched paint, and that will look ok and hold you over untill a repaint can be done.
