Default Selling vehicles online (US)

Anybody have any recommendations on where to place online ads? We're not having much luck selling my old Sierra. I have ads on CL and autotrader, we get calls and people saying they are going to come by but then they are no-shows. Maybe it's the tough times but maybe there is a better place to put the ad. I was thinking cars.com, or is that just throwing away money?

CL and ebay are the best options IMO, but if it is a vehicle that could potentially appeal to an enthusiast, then then an enthusiast forum works great too. Try a Chevy/GMC forum, or even perhaps a 4x4 forum, too (doesnt even have to be 4wd). I'm not really familiar any chevy forums, but NEOW would be a great place to give it a shot since you are in the northeast. I know how it is though to join a forum just to offload some merchandise.

I looked at forums and learned that they don't mind noobs posting for sale ads.

Still I went and posted on online sites.

In case anyone is interested you can save money at cars.com using promo codes. I was pleasantly surprised to find 20% promo code that worked, it saved me $8.

I'll PM you since I don't want to post too many details here.

Sure. But really I'm not trying to use the forum to sell my truck, I was trying to create a thread with general info that mght be helpful for anyone selling a vehicle in the US using an online site.

craigslist is the best way. when you meet up with the person wanting to buy the vehicle, you don't have to have them come to your home, you can meet them at a well populated area like a store parking lot, etc.

Finally sold it. Our strategy was wrong for a while and I guess that was what made things difficult. We had put it in for a price we would like to get with "OBO" and all we got were lowball offers or people saying they'd come see it who were no shows. Then we put in our rock-bottom price and said "firm" and it was like a light switch got turned on. We got serious buyers and it sold within two days.

Hmmm thanks for the tips... Ive been trying to sell my car and posted it at $500 more than rock-bottom with an OBO. Ive been getting a lot of lowballs and no-shows. I'll give it a shot the other way.
