Default Xeb's Trip to Limerock - 56k is a no no

I am not much of a nut when it comes to cars, but I love racing. May parents race vintage cars and are pretty good at it to (even though they race once a year and still beat the snot out of guys with 30+ years of racing and a majority are ex-pro). Last year my mom came in first in her class, stepdad came in 2nd and third in the 2 races he entered in. The one he came in second place he did with a engine that cut out on all left hand turns and had almost no tires left XD

Vintage cars my parents have:

Lotus 23b - Car's history is proving to difficult to find. Anything on its time in Europe (1963 to lets say 1973????) is grey. Stepdad only knows the last name of the man who owned the card originally.

Ralt Atlantic Formula B - Raced by John Paul Jr. in 1979 but Kevin Cogan was the original owner of the car and came in third in the championship in 1978

Lotus Super7 - Tom Pryce - European Hill Climb Champion - 1962-1963 (winner 2 years in a row) - sadly he was killed in '78. There is more history but I am just putting famous and important racers down.

I have more information if anyone requests it.

Today was a test day to try and get the bugs ironed out and kick off the dust.

Stepdad's fastest time in his 23b was just a fraction over a minute (I think his fastest time was 1m 00.32s), which is VERY close to his fastest time there at Limerock.

Funny thing was that they had just replaced the fiberglass body on the 23b because of 2 things:

1 - it was the original (1963)
2 - Had been patched SO many times it didn't fit right in some places, was heavy, etc

Shaved about 30 pounds off of it plus some other work. Car weights about 1100lbs, so that is a LOT.
The tires are over a year old so they were worn and hardened (but there is a trick to stop them from hardening )

Fastest time on the Ralt was about 55.73s but he has not very much seat time in it, so he Greg is a bit uncomfortable and doesn't wanna push it till he learns what he can do.

Mom has yet to do any testing sadly, as she had to stay home because of her job :/

RACE IS COMING UP DURING LABORDAY!!! w00t!

Anyways, I was there to watch and help as part of the crew (mom couldn't be there at test day thanks to work Would have loved to see her go to).

Sadly, since there are TOO many images (139 use to be over 350, but had to weed them out D, I can only post a few.

Nice pics, next time resize them to 800 x 600 so I don't have to recheck after dinner to see if the page is loaded.

You could batch edit, or use imageshack to load thumbnails.

Man, that is so cool.

I couldn't even afford the tires off the Ralt...

Why weren't you out there driving?

You got the 3000 for the driving test? If I drive and wreck one of those cars, it can be THOUSANDS to fix. Last year my stepdad was driving the Ralt when a connecting rod let loose. Piston when FLYING through block with the engine at about 6k RPMs. 10k to do the following:

Salvage any parts you can
rebuild a new engine (you can find the engines easily)
Find the parts (not so easy)
Make sure everything works.
put the engine back.

Took 4 months.
