Default Awd v8 swap?

Hey guys I don't know if this is the right place to post this but I am looking to make a fast awd car that is not a ridiculously turboed 4 cylinder like an Evo or Sti. I want the power and relabity of a v8 like an ls motor or a ford 5.0 v8 that could be turbocharged in the future. My question is what car is good to swap an engine like this into? Audis? Awd bmws? Subarus? Mercs? The list goes on. Any help would be appreciated!!!!!

A RWD -> AWD swap is nigh on impossible without serious knowledge and equipment and fabrication ability.

Ya the only car that comes to mind for your requirements is something like the Audi RS4. Which isnt exactly reliable, certainly not as reliable as an evo or sti that has been proven for decades of R&d and racing history.

I cant think of any plat form that will let you drop in an LS motor of any kind. You will have tens of thousands of dollars invested to make something AWD, and mate it to a RWD platform like the LS series.

And how much power/acceleration are you wanting here? You said a ridiculous turbo evo, to me that over 900 awhp which is insane for anything that ever touches the street.

I am not looking for anything too crazy. I don't have a power goal but somewhere around 500 awhp. I don't care what type of v8 it is only that it is reliable, can be turbocharged/supercharged and make decent power . I do not want the awful lag of a small displacement big turbo engine. I don't really care what car it is swapped into as long as its not a truck/van/SUV. I guess an ls motor would be difficult because of its rwdness for lack of a better term but I am open to anything.

Audi already makes AWD cars with that much HP, BMW too.

You're not going to make a modded 500 hp engine reliable.

Generally the rule of thumb in the car world is this:

Fast
Reliable
Cheap

Pick two.

I dont know of many V8 engines in their stock form to handle boost well, and certainly not reliably. If all you want it 500hp, im assuming at the wheels, there are tons of import tuners that can do that with hardly any lag. Dont associate all tuners with the typical old honda B series with turbos. Most newer and some of the very common import cars now spool down in the 3000 rpm range and will make easily over 500hp. Lancer evo with an FP red turbo on mild boost will make 500hp, and be crazy responsive. Supras can do 500hp on a completely stock engine and a small turbo as well, and spool around 3800rpm then rev all the way to over 8000rpm. Find me a v8 that will do that.

I get the feeling your stuck on this old american V8 craze, and are convinced anything other than a v8 is slow and unreliable with big power...

I realize that this will not be a cheap project but what fast car is not. Maybe I am being somewhat narrow minded with only wanting a v8 but I have a rode in, drove and have previously owned small displacement boosted engines and have enjoyed them, I have been there done that. If I wanted rwd I would have no dilemma but I live in a place where it snows and I want to be able to drive during the winter. Plus I just like the feel of an awd car. A v8 really appeals to me but I could go for a six cylinder also. I just don't want a typical Evo or Sti.

Understandable.

I think this is going to be difficult then. The 07-08 Audi RS4 meets your criteria, though its very expensive, and has a major carbon build up issue in the head caused by them using a direct injection system, so regular cleaning is required which over the life of the car or your owner ship it adds up!

I can think of any US going cars on an AWD platform that would easily be upgraded with a V8. So i think its going to be a big custom job. Or perhaps maybe a subaru chassis, that you swap a custom engine in and adapt the tran with a custom bell housing? Their engine bays are a little wider since they use boxer engines, should help with the stuffig of a v8.

I think we need to devise a list of all available AWD cars in the US sold from 1990-present day. Then from there we could narrow down possible project cars.
