Default Dream Builds

I'm starting this to see what people think of. What builds have you dreamed about realisticly not completly impossible that would have been nice. I'll start it off. I imagined and even planned out alot of builds but probably the strangest one is about ten years ago I really started to think about a Fiero build and it still haunts me to this day. It could have or may be will still be nice the cars are cheap enough just never saw one worth the restore normally they are pretty torn up.

The basic lay would have been a 1988 Fiero Gt with a aluminium 3.5L 60 degree V6 5spd Possibly a DOHC or a single. The 3.1-3.4L motors had a huge aftermarket following in the mid 90's because of the availability in the camaro's and GM even makes a aluminium block for the motor. Building a engine from the ground up I could have saved 250lbs in wieght on the motor alone and produced around 350-400HP and still been streetable. The Rear engine design would have helped with traction brakes would have had to be completly custom with the right suspension geometry it would probably ran low 12's or better. To me this would have been a sleeper with 1 goal destroy all want a be kid racer's and there imports. I figure total investment about 8-9G's.

What do you think and what realizable dreams have haunted you?

Oh boy...only $9000? Either of mine will probably be closer to 30k-40k. I already have a sleeper that destroys wannabe kid racer's dreams, and it just makes me want a nicer car.

Take a pre-85 Audi Coupe GT.
Replace floor with one from an Audi 4000 quattro.
Bolt up quattro to the underside.
Attach Sport-quattro or Quattro A2 style flares.
6-speed transmission from B5 S4.
Then the motor will one of the following:
-Audi 3.6 or 4.2 V8 (possibly with a big single turbo)
-Audi 10v turbo 5-cylinder (i dunno why but i prefer these to the 20v's although they are inferior)
-VW VR6-turbo
Wide wheels
Cage for improvement of the poor chassis rigidity of those cars.
Coilovers
Recaro seats from a vw mk2 gti/gli
This would a weekend track car.
Will look kind of like this:

My other dream is to take an old Porsche 911
put earlier long-hood style body work (if it isnt on it already)
Moderately sized rear fender flares
Any turbo motor EFI'd
Wide wheels
And I'd probably relocate the intercooler somewhere to avoid having to put on the whale-tail.
This would probably be a road car.
Something like this:

Send a nice Evo IX to AMS performance, and tell them to make it a time attack beast. almost $100k later, ill have one of the nastiest street cars ever built.

The AMS cars have been unbelievably reliable. On many of their cars, they still use the stock block, and make over 800whp, and have no problems thousands of miles later.

They are absolutely bullet proof, and they still crank out some of the highest hp evos in the world.

Mine is a 240Z with the RB26DETT engine from a skyline in it. 2400lbs plus 300+ horsepower, yum.

That would be sick. But why the the RB36 stock? They are good for way over 1000hp. So bolt on some upgraded gt30 twins and make a super responsive setup that makes over 800whp. Then you will be in business!

IMHO, the RB26DETT is THE best motor ever made. The skylines are forever impressive in both the power they make, but also the responsivness they have with such high power!

I've always wanted to build a 5.0 mustang to run somewhere in the low to mid 12's.

I'm not quite sure yet if I would run a turbo or just build it up and maybe throw a 100 shot in there for good luck.

Anyways, these are the basic parts needed (Taken from http://members.tripod.com/tomak3/page9.html)
Quote:
What I Would Do To Run 12's

Assuming sea level conditions, and a standard tranny I would do the following to the car:

OPTION A

•3.73 gears

•Underdrive pulleys

•1 5/8" long tube headers (these are most likely too big, but will give you headroom if you go with a blower or NOS)

•2.5" Hi Flo H pipe (with long tube headers, most shops can build an H pipe with only 1 minor bend. Cheaper this way)

•Bored stock mass air meter (61mm) with K&N filter

•Phenolic spacer

•Ported stock heads with 1.94/1.6 valves and 1.7 rockers.

•Stock camshaft

•Stock bottom end with windage tray

•190 or 255 lph fuel pump

•Adjustable fuel pressure regulator

I had a combination like this on two separate occasions. Both cars ran ~13.2 @ 103 mph (12.6 @ 107 mph NHRA corrected for Calgary's 'bad' air). The only difference between the 2 cars and the combo above was that they had 3.55 gears. If you want faster than this naturally aspirated, a good rebuild may help (depending on the condition of your motor). Also a bump to about 10:1 compression, and maybe 4.10 gears. If your motor is in good shape, and you still want to go faster, I would recommend the next step.....forced induction.
There are many, many cars that I would love to build up but this is one that I have set my sights on as a possibility in the near future.

I always loved WJ's .. and what I have now will probably turn out to be one of my dream builds if I can ever get the money to put it together.

What I'm looking at doing is
-supercharging it,
-completely redoing the suspension (lowering it slightly, new control arms, anti sway bars etc.) to make it handle as good as a vehicle can when it has two solid axles.
-Superchips tuner
-Performance exhaust with electric cutouts (in the process of doing this right now)
-Cold air intake (done)
-A killer system that gets loud as hell, but is also very accurate and precise as far as sound reproduction goes (in the process)
-respraying it black
-throwing on 20" WK SRT8 rims

I can say I'd be pretty content with it then. Only thing that sucks is kenne belle has stopped making the WJ specific supercharger, so they're a pain in the rear to come by. Pretty much, I'll be taking a vehicle renowned for its offroad capabilities and screwing all that up.

The two costliest upgrades that i want to do are definitely the black paintjob and the supercharger. The engines been used a fair bit, so it'll be time soon enough for a new head gasket, when that happens I'll probably invest in a new cam, ported and polished heads, and whatever else I can get for a decent price.
