Default Embarassing - lost to a Chevy Caprice tonight

I was at the local Mount Lawn Raceway (featuring the quarter mile track with the tightest turns and least grade in Indiana) tonight for a friend's Faskart race, and they announced they had an open street drag competition - a 1v1 single-elimination tourney, 1 lap around the quarter-mile track. I got paired up with a souped up 4th-gen Chevy Caprice, and I got the pole position. And I screwed up, bad. My tires are god-awful to start with, as is my suspension (I should post pictures of my tread tomorrow - I can spin my tires at 35mph on dry pavement) plus I didn't know I'd be racing, so I had at least 80 lbs of tools, a jack, jackstands, etc in the trunk.

Anyway, I hit the gas waaay too hard, and end up sitting there with my tires spinning helplessly as the Caprice takes off. I was right on his tail all the time, but he had much better grip and a stiffer suspension, so I couldn't get inside. I almost passed him on the outside on the last straightaway, but I ran out of track. The Caprice went on to win the tourney, though the final run (against a decked out Probe) was close. Apparently the guy in the Caprice won 3 years ago, and would've won last year if he hadn't totaled the car he had last year.

So, for the sake of my pride, I'm definitely hoping he had an LT1 - at least that would give me some excuse. lol But all in all, it was fun.

EDIT: Actually, it might have been a 3rd gen, I'm not entirely sure.

Yeah sometimes you win, somtimes you lose. Without the losses, the victories wouldnt taste as sweet. Always remember that.

Pwnt. But I loose a lot anyway, although I won against a Solara yesterday, the guy couldn't shift to save his soul, he kept hitting the rev limiter, plus he got caught in traffic
