Cool I'm so proud of my car...

so, a couple of days ago, this guy that lives a couple houses down from me wanted to race me. so i agreed. he has either an 01 or 02, can't remember, ford focus zx3 i think its called. just basic mods. cai, perf. plugs and wires, exhaust, etc. his cars a 5 speed manual, mines a 4 speed auto. =( any way, we hit the highway, take off at the same time and we stay pretty even until he hits 2nd, i jump ahead then. then when my damn automatic finally shifts into 3rd (@ 80mph) i pull even further ahead and end up pretty easily beating him. me 1, focus 0.

then, yesterday, these two fine chicks in a mustang (v6), and an intrepid, both late model, 03 or later, decide they want to have a three way =) haha, so i agree. so we're on the highway, i'm in third, at 115, and i punch it, easily pass the intrepid and gain on the mustang and stay even with it until we all three exit off. we go and park and i check the mods on the mustang. dual exhaust, cai, performance chip and it was a manual. so all in all, i'm real proud of my lil girl. just wanted to give her some recognition and brag about her a little. i've got to get an ext. trans cooler though. my trans got a lil too hot for my liking.

Surprised you could keep up with a Mustang V6. What all do you have done to your car? Also Ford Focus ZX3s are slower than the offspring of homemade sin.

well, got the trans cooler today. had to get a new pressure line for it too because the old one was leaking. no biggie. went out on the highway and tested it at top speed and temps were looking good. bout 10 deg. cooler. within safe zone now. tranny seems a little spunkier at higher speeds now too. =) also as far as the mods question, i'm soon going to be getting a new head with 3 angle valve job, totally new exhaust system an sometime next year prob., a t25 garret turbo kit.

Once you get all the heads and turbo mods done, that should be a stout little focus. Keep us posted with further mods...

Turbo. You don't have to keep paying for NOS and it doesn't ruin your engine.

thats what i want. its just the lure of the cheaper upfront cost of the nos. i know the turbo will be cheaper in the long run though.

Well I'll just put it this way. Every time you use NOS you are putting severe strain on your engine. Eventually something is going to break down and that is going to cost you a crap load of money to fix. With a turbo if you build the engine up properly you will have the same reliability you had before with a lot more power on tap all the time.
