Default Do I need to worry about rust on these parts?

Hi,

yesterday I did a test drive in a used mazda that I really like: the car drives great, no strange sounds and the paint looks pristine. However, when I look underneath the car I see some rusty spots. The car salesman assures me that these are harmless because they are solid cast iron parts (i.e. not thin plates), but given that car knowledge is limited to driving them I am looking for an unbiased opinion.

I have included two pictures I took (lying under the rear of the car), that I hope will suffice for evaluation. My question to you is:
- Is the salesman right, is this harmless?
- If not, is it bad enough to not buy this car or is this something that can be (easily and cheaply) dealt with (preferably by myself)?

I hope someone on this forum can give me some good advice! Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the reply! I also talked to some other people who basically told me the same, so I'm off to buy this car!
