Default Is it safe to use these to change oil on all cars, and is it easy?

Are these extractors safe to use on all cars and is it as easy as they say: Fast, Safe, and Easy Oil Changes | Gizmations I heard that Mercedes commonly uses them, but it is fine for non-luxury cars? I have an older Toyota Highlander.

You will NOT get nearly as much of the old oil out of the engine as removing the drain plug. Also, even with hot thin oil, it takes a long time to move that much oil through that small plastic hose. I know, because I have the same suction device.

Removing the drain plug on the oil pan causes a surge of old oil moving and this will help carry out sediment.

The only oil change I might use one of those on is a boat engine where you cannot get a pan under the oil pan.

You have to have it up in the air to remove the oil filter in most cases anyways.

Thanks! Good to know. I thought I'd take the "easy" way out (although changing oil the regular way isn't that bad).

They sell those little locking ball valves that you can install in place of your drain plug. You can hook a hose up to them and cut the mess down if you are really looking to simplify.
