Default Looking To Buy A Car In The Next Year, Suggestions?

Hey all, I am hopelessly lost in this car search game. I have no idea what would be a good purchase for me. I am looking to buy a car within a year. I have asked around with people I know for suggestions but I feel like I am just spinning my wheels. I drive around 15K miles a year. Honestly here is just my basic criteria:

-8K-$10K price tag
-Will last 3 years needing only oil changes, tires, wipers, and low price maintenance.
-25+ MPG highway
-I plan on selling the car in 3 years so a decent resale value (at least getting back 50% of what I paid for it)

I have zero model/make loyalty, I just want peace of mind that won't cost me an arm and a leg. I understand my criteria would require me to have a used car, and that's fine, I just don't have a clue which one(s) would best fit my needs. Please help me.

A Honda Civic/Accord, Toyota Camry/Corolla would be great.

Mazda 3 is a nice little car which fits the bill.

A Subaru Impreza could probably be found in that range as well.

You might be able to find a 2012ish Chevrolet Sonic in that price range even.

Lots of options here. Let me know if you'd like some more!

Thanks for the quick reply. Would you say the maintenance costs of these vehicles are equal or are there some that are more reliable. When it comes down to it I just want a turn key car that I won't have to worry about.

I'd say they'll all be approximately the same. Go drive them and get an idea for what you want. Then get an inspection from a mechanic who specializes in the brand before you buy and you should be set.

It depends on what you are looking for. What are you inclined to buy? A sedan, SUV, or a pickup?
