Default Screw Too Close to the Sidewall?

washing my car this morning i noticed a screw in my tire. So i take it to a tire shop and after making me wait an hour they tell me they cant patch or plug it because of where the screw is located. They then proceed to tell me to get an identical tire i have to pay $130 plus $20 for installation. Because these places are always trying to hustle people i left and told them ill get back to them. What do you guys think, does the tire need to go?

If the puncture is in the tread where it contacts the road, I consider it repairable. I've repaired many tires just like that.

Find another shop.
