Default Turbo 350

Hi everyone,

I need to know what that guy, who said his car had a "turbo 350", actually meant by that. (Or that other guy who has a big block Chevy and a turbo 400.)

What does the number represent?

I found some things about a THM350... but... this is the SUPERDUMBPART:
why did i find something about an "automatic transmission" while i was looking for what I thought was... a turbocharger?

(PS: I'm not an English-speaker, and I'm a GIRL, and i'm going to repeat that a lot.)

THANK YOU so much

Chevrolet had a series of automatic transmission preceded by the word "turbo" (including the 350 and 400). Sadly it has nothing to do with forced induction.

Lol - thanks!

(BUT Why would they do that?!)

So you agree, the phrase "Turbo 350" CANNOT refer to a real turbo ?

Can I ask you one last thing...? "A precision 88 millimeter turbo"... IS a real turbo, right?

You've been very kind, thanks again!

My guess is it was a marketing idea to make something seem like more than it was .

You can turbocharge a 350 SBC engine but as far as I am aware this was never done from the factory.

As for your last question, yes, that is referring to an actual turbocharger.

Tofu is correct, Turbo 350 and TH350 are the same thing and are a transmission.

Why does Turbo have to mean Turbocharged? it's used as a refrence for a premium faster part.

If I'm not mistaken the Turbo 350 got its name long before turbochargers reached cars, certainly WAY before they caught on.

Not sure when the th350 was introduced but 1962 was the first time Chevy and olds built turbocharged cars
