Have you even gotten to drive your Supra yet or was an engine rebuild required right off the bat? What kind turbo or turbos does it have and it and are you going to keep them?

Yes i have been driving it ever since i bought it... Its not running right, but it still plants about 265-280 whp (estimated). I can hear that the valves are a bit worn, i have a light head gasket leak, rear main leak, and the tranny is beat to hell... Other than that the car is in absolutely great shape. Virtually no rust, straight body, just needs paint. Plust the interior is immaculate.

The 1JZ uses 2 CT12's. They are itty bitty little turbos, but are good to about 14psi efficiently. Though tuned right you can get up to about 17psi. But thats running them hard. My turbos are worn aswell, but im not going to replace them yet, i dont have the funds... But when i do i think im either going twin GT28's or single GT35. I estimate the money should be in hand to replace the turbos about this time next year. I want to have the suspension and brakes completely done before i change turbos if i can. Beside the stock twins will be good to about 375whp after the rebuild of the motor

Thanks man.... Its coming slow, but has steady progress. The parts bin is just building up slowly, I have hit a bump in the road and may not be going with the bottom end i thought i was for this motor... So we will see. I have some more saving to do for the EMS and a few misc. parts, then ill have to decide what block and pistons im going with.

The block i was going to use is aperently going to run much too high a compression ratio unless i use a super thick head gasket, which i dont want to do because it doesnt perform as well because the combustion chamber is shaped differently with such a thick head gasket, and its less reliable... And i can afford the correct block...lol So i may end up just saving and spending a few grand more on this damn build up.... I just dont know yet, im waiting for a buddys build to get finished up, hes in the same delema as i am and ill just see how his turns out....

Can you not get shorter conrods or smaller pistons to lower compression instead of the extra gasket?

Yes you can, but that cost crazy money. Custom rods or pistons would both be over $1000. It looks like right now im going to be stuck with rebuilding the 1JZ bottom end that i already have... Oh well. Still an immensely powerful motor.
