Default Volvo turbo dying?

I recently topped off my volvo at 66MPH... I just don't get it. this is what I get:

Turbo passes into the white 1/2 of what it used to

at 66MPH, I'm in 3rd @ 5500RPM

I have hit 120MPH before....

I worried that I might need to go faster than 66MPH some day... possibly the Freeway?! Any hope for me, guys? I MAY have a small leak in the turbo lines, I will look into it asap.

The first thing to check is hoses & piping. No leaks allowed!

Then I would remove the turbo inlet connection (engine NOT hot)
Reach in with your fingers, give the turbine a push with your fingers. It should spin easily, otherwise your turbo is seized.

LOL @ the idea of someone putting thier hands anywhere near a turbo after the car has been running heh heh

I remember one night years ago I was about 2 hours from home in my 1987 turbo Dodge Shadow and the snap ring popped free from the waste gate assembly rod and I lost all boost. I stopped and had my flashlight out *at night, worse yet* and lucky me, the snap ring had landed on the manifold.

Yah, unlucky me, I was stupid enough to reach down there and get it, STTTTTTUUUUUUUUPID. Maybe the worst burn I ever had on two fingertips haha. Thank god for my leatherman, I was able to get the snap ring, and after waiting about 15 minutes for the car to cool some, got it back into place and was on my way.

I probably could have driven the car without it, but damn I hate not having boost

Come to think of it, I've had at least one turbo'ed car at any given time since 1997. Fun fun.

I just recently checked the intake hose, and the seal is bad (I mean REALLY bad) at the turbo end. Would that be enough to cause this? Also, my fuel economy has dropped from 26MPG to 13.5MPG...

If the seal was bad enough to let dust/dirt/sand into the intlet side on the turbo, you could have damaged the turbo. How bad are we talking here?

Well, I dunno how bad it was. I have pics, but I can't upload them now. (I don't have internet at home) I'll upload them when I get the chance, if I remember...
It looked like there was oil on the turbo fan blade, and I wiped it off. I vacuumed the air filter, reattached the intake hose a little tighter than usual (I ran the clamp upo the hose past the leak). I took the car out for a spin, and it still sucked. That day after work, I though "what the hell". I popped it in neutral and gun it to the red line, and held it there. I heard a clunk, and a rattle on the pavement behind me. a freaking rock was wedged in my exhaust. but some other oily gunk came out too....
Now, I took the car out for a spin. It feels amazing. I gun it and I lose my place in my seat. That little car burned out, sparks flying, middle of the night, walmart parking lot. (studs on the tires, but they are ok....). I love it. My fuel economy is back up.
I think I have some more potential problems, though. I need a new air filter. the excess gunk in the exhaust does not sound good, and I think it's the turbo leaking oil. maybe the air filter sucks that bad... I also need to take a look at my exhaust system for leaks. I'll post pics if/when I remember.

lol, I remember when I backed into my parking spot with my old car when the exhaust fell off. The bang when the ice/snow went flying out of the turbo downpipe was just awesome.. I do like that my focus pops a lot more than my old car did, and I still have a muffler
